According to the latest Counterpoint study, Xiaomi is the leader in supplying the Indian smartphone market with a 22% share in the third quarter of 2021. Total smartphone shipments in India exceeded 52 million in the third quarter, and for Xiaomi, Apple was the fastest growing brand in the quarter.
Xiaomi’s top spot is led by the Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 10 series. Samsung remains the second largest smartphone brand in India with 19% shipments. According to the report, OnePlus has the largest shipments to date in India, with combined shipments of the Nord series exceeding 3 million units.
Counterpoint’s latest report on India’s smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2021 shows that Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Realme and Oppo are the best performing brands in this line.
As mentioned, Xiaomi has a market share of 22 percent. Four smartphones from Xiaomi – Redmi 9A, Redmi 9 Power, Redmi Note 10 and Redmi 9 – are among the top four in the bestseller list. With over a million phones shipped in the third quarter, the Redmi 9A is the best-selling model of 2021.
According to Counterpoint, Samsung is the second largest smartphone market in India with a market share of 19 percent. It is said to have brought the price segment from the middle to upper class (Rp 10,000 – Rp 30,000) with a market share of 25 percent.
This brand ranks second in the 5G smartphone segment alongside the Samsung Galaxy M42, Samsung Galaxy M52, Samsung Galaxy A22 and Samsung Galaxy A52s. The recently released Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 are also off to a strong start in India, the report said.
According to Counterpoint, Vivo is in third place in the 21st quarter of 2021 with a 15 percent market share. Realm follows with a 14 percent market share and Oppo is expected to come in fifth in the third quarter of 2021 with 10 percent.
In India, Apple was the fastest growing brand in the third quarter, with 212% year-on-year growth, according to Counterpoint. With a market share of 44% and 74% respectively, it is the market leader for premium smartphones and ultra-premium rooms.
According to Counterpoint, the OnePlus Nord series received a positive response in India, and the company reported 55% annual growth in the third quarter of 2021. I had the highest shipments in India. The recently released OnePlus Nord 2 and Nord CE 5G are important growth factors for OnePlus.
According to the report, 5G smartphone shipments surpassed the 10 million mark for the first time in the third quarter of 2021. Vivo is considered the leading brand for 5G smartphones, followed by Samsung, OnePlus and Realme.
